WOODWORKING
MISSION
When I was a boy living at my parents place, I woke up every summer Saturday to the sound of power tools coming from my Dad's wood shop. The whining of sanders or the steady pop of a nail gun was my alarm, and it was usually accompanied by the smell of freshly cut wood. At an early age I started assisting my Dad in his shop where he made dining room tables, kitchen cabinets, bar stools and a whole lot more.
I've continued to assist him on projects here and there but over the last few years we have started working on projects for my place. Below is a little look into the projects we've done together. Some have been brand new builds, while some have been restoration projects. I'm lucky enough to be the designer in these collaborations who rests the structural success of the piece on the Master Carpenter.

PROJECT: WORKBENCH RESTORATION
This work bench sat for years in my Dad's wood shop collecting saw dust, glue and stain. Before that, it was in a local high school's woods class. We stripped down just enough of that wear and tear to reveal the workbench's true character!

PROJECT: BOOKCASE
This bookcase was a piece that I had drawn up during some rather boring meetings at work. It was inspired by a garage door on an old firehouse in River North Chicago.
